Change we *should* believe in
I remember having read something about the 'mom and dad' theory on Amit Verma's blog and am merely paraphrasing. So in case you've read the same please dont go all Medha Patkar on me and accuse me of plagiarism.
So, I am sure most of you are happy. Obama won. I know- big day.Words like change,hope floating all about. Surely we will conquer the credit crunch now that there is a well spoken man in the White House ! But you know cynics ? We're never happy.
I know at least 5 people who I have had this discussion with a & they pretty much think I'm completely mental for having wanted McCain to win.But what to do ? Its the whole going against the popular opinion keeda in me
Anyway heres's TOP 5 Reasons I wanted McCain to win
1) Sarah Palin was hot ! - She was. No denying it. Obama in all his glibness spoke of how he really wasn't 'same of the same'. I do not recall having a 'hot-mom' for a world leader. Surely that would have mixed up things during peace summits
2) John McCain = Vijay Srivastava - The guys life was straight out of an Amitabh Bachchan movie.Born to privilige. Ex-POW and war hero. Man of immense principles. Complete maverick who repeatedly took a stand against his own party. And a lifelong history of being angry. How can such people NOT become presidents of their country
3) Charismatic leftist leader from a minority - Ok. So USA and India are really not the same and our histories are diff. But here - charisma gives latitide to do bizarre things, leftism guarantess screw up of economy and minority leaders tend to stay in power because their 'vote banks' never let go.
4) Sympathy for the
devilunderdog-I am the kind of guy who will only die happy when Hull City/Stroke City/Ipswich win the Premiership. I cheered for Spain in football for 12 years till they won something and now that they did- I don't really like them that much5) I am libertarian - You should read up on this. Theres some 'mom and dad' theory. Basically conservatives are like dads- will not object to your selling arms if you make enough money but object to your hanging out with 'pansy' friends. Liberals, on the other hand are like moms. They will accept the tattooed druggie girlfriend eventually but will take away your toys so that the servants children can have some (even if you aren't done with them). Libertarianism is kind of in the middle......

dude, Sarah Palin > NOT hawt. And btw, she won't let her 17 year old daughter to go through an abortion.. how shady is that! Poor girl's got to have a child because her mother has such strong opinions.. that's why I prefer Indian mums, they never find out to opine..
@anamika_b - we don't know for sure why Sarah Palin's daughter had the baby. Maybe she believed in what her mum belileved in as well ?
And she is not 'hawt', shes a 'hot mom'. Like that Maggi sauce - it's different !

i didnt want obama to win cos everyone else wanted him to and cause of another reason which is best left unsaid.

apparently is aint that difficult to start looking like Sarah Pallin ( refers to Tina Fey and a zillion other look alikes who emerged in the last couple of months!) ... that POINT aint even VALID!!! ...

I am just worried Obama might not be able to live up to his hype!... it is easier for him to dissapoint the world.. considering most of the world considers him "the savior" ..
Hey, Sarah Palin is NOT hot, and her famous “wink” was horrendous!! But yeah, I do think that Obama is kind of cute
. But well, I guess we belong to different gender species, so..

@pinkolecious - Tina Fey lookalike-ness adds to the charm , :D ( i am a biiig fan!). And uhmm on current evidence Obama is no saviour - he is just not George Bush and his friends a lil less creepier than Cheney and Karl Rove
@Alter0Ego - I didnt notice the wink part. And she was hot for a world leader type of person (Margaret Thatcher types - you know what I mean ?). And I think Obama is kinda cute too :P. Hes definitely the fittest American president ever !
Sympathy for the underdog.. I tend to *always* do that. But, in this case.. don't you think considering America, Obama had the lesser chance?
@shesturningblue - not really. Considering Bush's approval rating - the democrats always had a better chance. Plus, McCain was the underdog for the Republican ticket itself. He had to almost abandon his campaign before the primary season,due to lack of funds. No such problems for the O-man
